Newcastle West is the county town and largest settlement in County Limerick. The town is pleasantly situated on the river Arra in the rich central plain of County Limerick.
The town is clustered with buildings of historic interest, including the Desmond Castle and Banqueting Hall, the Courthouse built in 1842 and the old Railway Station which was built in 1867.

The town has brilliant community park, children’s playground and playing fields at the Castle Demesne in public ownership.
