Fr. Casey's GAA Club

  • Fr Casey GAAa Club

Established in 1884 by local priest Father William Casey, Fr. Casey’s GAA Club has been one of the most successful clubs in the history of County Limerick Gaelic Games.

Prior to the foundation of the GAA in 1884, athletics and Gaelic football were being practised in Abbeyfeale under the guidance of our patriot priest Fr. William Casey. Abbeyfeale was one of the first clubs in Ireland to register under the rules of the GAA and continuously since then Abbeyfeale has never failed to participate fully in the games, administration and activities of the GAA.

Fr. Casey’s GAA Club have won the County Senior Football Championship on a remarkable eight occasions and have contributed many great players to county teams down through the years. In addition to their senior triumphs Fr. Casey’s have also enjoyed numerous Intermediate, Junior, U21, Minor and Underage Gaelic Football successes throughout their proud history. The club is admired for its successful underage development programme.
