The Heat is On at Riverfest Limerick this May Bank Holiday Weekend - The deadline for BBQ applications is this Wednesday

Time is running out for teams to enter this year’s Riverfest BBQ on the Boardwalk. Ireland’s biggest BBQ cook-off is a staple of the Riverfest Limerick line-up delivering a feast for the senses each year.

Visitors can savour the sights, sounds and smells as teams dish out delicious fare while also trying to impress the BBQ judges with their food, costumes and attitude. 

The Riverfest BBQ is all about having a good time while novice and professional teams compete side by side in a range of categories and bid to be crowned overall BBQ Champions. 

Get your company or community group involved and help to serve up the fun and food for this family friendly event on Saturday 29 April. 

The closing date for entries has been extended to this Wednesday 19 April.

Mayor of the City and County of Limerick Cllr Francis Foley said: “The Riverfest BBQ is a truly enjoyable event each year and creates a fantastic atmosphere on the boardwalk. It is hugely entertaining to watch some of the interactions between the BBQ teams and the visitors as they sample the food that has been prepared right there in front of them. Don’t miss out on getting your team registered and be part of the fun this year.” 

Riverfest Limerick is running from Friday 28 April to Monday 1 May creating a carnival atmosphere with something for everyone to enjoy.

The tide has turned in Limerick’s favour for this year’s festival allowing more water based events including kayaking, paddle boarding, a sailing regatta, boat racing and magnificent displays from world-renowned Fly Boarders.

The Riverfest Freedrop at Castle Lane is an exciting new attraction that will unleash your inner daredevil, the Panoramic Wheel offers stunning 360 degree views of Limerick from the Potato Market and Rogu’s Firestorm street performance promises an explosion of fire, light and skill. Fashion Friday turns on the style at Arthur’s Quay Shopping Centre and The Riverfestival Village returns to Arthur’s Quay Park for the weekend.

Thousands will participate in Sunday’s Regeneron Great Limerick Run and you won’t want to miss the Riverfest Spectacular Fireworks Display on Sunday night. 

Escape from it all at the Riverfest Chill Out Zone & Sensory Room at the Hunt Museum Garden for children and adults with autism. In association with ASD Ireland. 

Grooveyard is producing this year’s Riverfest Limerick programme on behalf of Limerick City and County Council along with partners Arthur’s Quay Shopping Centre, Mr. Binman and Maldron Hotel Limerick.
