We are Barry Gilbourne and Darren Kiely and we are both Primary School Teachers with a passion for farming. We have set about creating a unique place for families, schools and groups to visit.
Our background in Education led us to Social Farming and we have worked hard to turn Kilmeedy Social Farm into a happy and inclusive place for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy. As Teachers, we believe that Social Farming ties in our love of farming, education and meeting new people under one umbrella.
We want to give everyone the opportunity to enjoy our family farm and learn about our ever increasing biodiversity and sustainability projects. “Nurturing Nature and You” is what we are all about so we have ensured that our farm is accessible for all and we are always so delighted to see huge smiles and happy faces as our visitors meet our beautiful animals and explore our very unique farm.
Social farming is all about giving people with a range of challenges in life the opportunity to spend time and carry out activities on working family farms.
The idea for our Social Farm came about as we discovered that there were not many options open to those facing life challenges. As qualified teachers, we are passionate about giving as many people as possible the opportunity to learn new skills and become involved.
Our Social Farming participants work in a farm setting where they feel safe, happy, supported and experience a sense of achievement.
We also offer farm visits! Join us for a great day on the Farm!
