11th Limerick Newcastle West Scouts

Scout group based in Newcastle West catering for Beavers (6-8), Cubs (9-11), Scouts (12-15), Ventures (15-18), Rovers (18-25) and Adult Leaders (18+) who love camping, pioneering, backwoods, hillwalking and all sorts of adventures.

Full details on the scout program we run can be found at www.scouts.ie. Scouting is an inclusive, non-sporting group aimed at children and adults who love the outdoors.

Scouts starting at 6 years old, camp, hike and learn lifelong skills such as backwoods (camping without tents), pioneering (building structures from timber and rope), knot tying, emergency skills, paddling to name a few.

These are all done under the One Programme which promotes the SPICES. Social, Physical, Intellectual, Character, Emotional and Spiritual.

Adult Leaders volunteer their time weekly and for events like camping, hillwalking and scout competitions and they aren’t just sitting there supervising.

They are abseiling off cliff faces, climbing mountains, bivvying (camping without tents), right there alongside the scouts, encouraging them every step of the way. All adult leaders and Garda vetted and trained in Child Protection.
