Mother Macs Public House is located in the Heart of Limerick City on High Street at the entry to the Milk Market. Known locally as the Roundhouse due to the unique architecture the owners place an emphasis on serving high quality products and has become the home of craft beer in the city.

Mother Macs Public House on High St. in Limerick opened in December 2015 and since this time the pub has become renowned for its selection of craft beer and whiskey.  The bar is owner operated by two local brothers and is located in Limericks Market Quarter adjacent to the famous Milk Market; considered the Heart of the City.  The Pub offers a large selection of craft beer both on draught and capped as well as having an impressive whiskey selection.  Any visitor should ask about the whiskey of the month offers.  The pub uniquely operates rotational craft beer taps with products selected from Ireland and beyond.

The pub has stayed respectful to its roots and has the distinction of being one of only a small handful of bars in the city without a TV.  This adds to the atmosphere and all are welcomed to socialise in a friendly authentic environment with great service and a fantastic selection of beer.  The pub has the distinction of winning the Best Pint of Guinness in Limerick as voted by the readers of The Limerick Leader Newspaper.

The current owners believe in highlighting the vast abilities and talent of local artists and the pub is filled with unique quirky touches.  The unusual signage is courtesy of local and internationally renowned sign writer Tom Collins.  The exterior signage has been hand painted by Tom using traditional techniques and its has featured on a number of international publications.  Internally the bar remains unchanged from its earlier days but has been restored to highlight the beauty.  The one significant change is to the rear of the main bar in an area called Peggys Parlour.  This former off licence and store room has been lovingly changed into a quaint little snug bar.  The pictures on the walls depict limerick in the past times including the Milk Market.

The building is architecturally unique and of historical significance.  It is located just outside the walls of Irishtown having a curved brick facade and is the ancestral home of the O’Malley Family in Limerick.  The building dates to 1787 when it was first listed in James Ferrars History of Limerick, however the exact age is not known.  The pub is of historical significance being owned by the O’Malley family who traded as grocers, spirit and tea merchants.  Most notable are the connections between the house and Irish Politics: descendants of the family include three Irish Government Ministers and Two Mayors of the City.
