Bilboa National School

  • Bilboa National School 810 x 456

Our school is situated in East Limerick approximately fifteen miles from Limerick City and two miles from the village of Cappamore. We have six full time teachers and one shared resource teacher.

The school opens at 9.20am each day and classes finish at 2pm for junior infants and 3pm for the other children. We have a very active and involved Board of Management and Parents' Council. The local community is also very important to us in the school and our friends and neighbours in the parish of Cappamore and general locality are always welcome at school events.

There has been a school in Bilboa since 1856. The original school was across the road but in 1909 the school building we now use was opened and has served the Bilboa community well since then. The school was renovated in 1997 when a new roof was put on the building, central heating installed and the electrical systems upgraded to modern standards. A dedicated staff room was included and the classrooms also got a makeover with bright airy colours and new floor coverings in all rooms. On March 9th 1999 our bright  and cheerily renovated school was opened by the Minister of Education of the time, Mr. Michéal Martin.
