Conor, Cormac and the staff would like to welcome you to their practice situated in the Ashdown Centre close to Limerick city. The skills and experience of the team allow them to impart an advanced level of private dental care. This encompasses all aspects of general dentistry through to a multi disciplinary approach of complex rehabilitation (that is restoration of missing and damaged teeth). Conor and Cormac hale from Dungannon Co. Tyrone where their father and grandfather practised as Dental surgeons. Graduates of the Royal London Hospital in 1994, they had been in private practice together in London until 2005, when they decided to move to limerick and founded the Shields Dental Clinic. In the years that have followed, active pursuit of their postgraduate studies, has allowed the treatments on offer in their practice to evolve.
In 2004 they both attained the Diploma in Restorative Dental Practice awarded by the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute. As a result, they offer an extremely high level of experience in the areas of restorative and aesthetic disciplines, including the replacement of missing teeth with implants. They both have an interest in cosmetic techniques and the smile line. Cormac also has a lof of experience in treating facial pain/migraines/grinding and has a daily Oral facial pain clinic in this practice.
In 1997, Conor was awarded a diploma in conscious sedation by Guy's Hospital. He has extensive experience in providing gaseous and intravenous sedation for anxious and phobic patients. The principals are members of the ADI (Association of Dental Implantology) and the BACD (British Academy of Cosmetic Dentists), BSOS, associations dedicated to the excellence of their disciplines.
