Linger: Limerick Festival of Food, Heritage and Place is a vibrant celebration of Limerick’s rich food culture, unique heritage, and distinctive sense of place. Taking place across the city and county 11th - 13th September 2026, the festival brings together local food producers, chefs, community groups, artists, and visitors for a programme of food experiences, heritage activities, cultural events, workshops, talks, and family-friendly entertainment.
The initiative is supported through the EU Interreg North-West Europe Programme as part of the SLOWTOUR project
Limerick Larder Long Table Dinner
Gather around the table for a truly special evening at the iconic Milk Market. The Limerick Larder Long Table Dinner will showcase the very best of local food and drink through a carefully curated multi-course menu created by some of Limerick's leading chefs, using exceptional produce from across the city and county.
Historic Food Tasting Walking Trail
Step back in time and discover the rich food heritage of Limerick on this guided walking tour with Limerick Civic Trust. Explore the stories, traditions and local characters that shaped the city's culinary past while visiting historic streets and landmarks.
Linger Light Projections
Step back in time with these striking light projections. Historic and contemporary photographs celebrating Limerick's people, places and food traditions will be displayed on a Thomas Street shopfront, creating an atmospheric visual experience after dark.
Linger at King John's Castle
Experience a day of food, flavour and fascinating stories at King John’s Castle. Set against the backdrop of one of Limerick’s most iconic landmarks, the line-up brings together hands-on workshops, engaging talks and expert insights celebrating the region’s rich food culture.
Taste Limerick Tour
Discover the city through its food on a guided walking tour that weaves together Limerick’s rich culinary heritage, local landmarks and standout producers. From coffee and tea to meats, charcuterie, baked treats, whiskey and local stout, this is a flavour-filled journey through the streets and stories of Limerick.
Fire Feast on Nicholas Street
Gather around the fire in the heart of medieval Limerick for an unforgettable outdoor dining experience. Set on historic Nicholas Street, Fire Feast celebrates the primal art of cooking over an open flame, bringing together great food, live music and a spectacular riverside setting.
Linger at Limerick Milk Market
Join us at the iconic Milk Market for a day of food, community and family-friendly fun as part of Linger: Limerick Festival of Food, Heritage and Place. Start the morning with yoga and breakfast, enjoy a lively Porridge Party with storytelling, and spend the day discovering flavours, skills and creativity through a packed programme of demonstrations and workshops.
Linger International Food Hub
Celebrate the flavours, traditions, and cultures of communities from around the world. Enjoy a vibrant programme featuring international food stalls, community-led cooking demonstrations, cultural performances, hands-on cooking workshops, and food tastings throughout the day.
Limerick’s Great Soda Bread Competition
Dust off the flour, dig out the family recipe and get baking – Limerick is searching for a great soda bread! We’re inviting bakers from across Limerick to take part in a celebration of one of Ireland’s best-loved food traditions.
