Thursday 16th July @ 2pm
  • Aerial photo of Lough Gur County Limerick

A talk looking at the various agricultural practices and landscapes usages in historic Limerick.

East Lierick hosts one of Ireland's most complex and continious agricultural landscapes. Since the Neolithic, people have moulded and shaped it to their needs. The evidence of these past usages remians with us today and Dr Eugene Costello will demostrate just how important and interesting this landscape really is.

About the Speaker: Eugene Costello is a historian and archaeologist based in UCC, where he teaches late Medieval and early modern history. He is very interested in rural history and the history of farming, particularly how people interacted with the landscape and understood it. He is especially focused on the period between 1200 and 1850 AD.
