Exhibition: From the Life of Trees - Paintings by Volodymyr Topiy

Thursday 11th - Saturday 27th June
  • Limerick Museum

From the Life of Trees is an immersive exhibition of paintings by Volodymyr Topiy that delves into the aftermath of war, exploring themes of loss, resilience, and transformation.

Through his unique visual language, Topiy creates portraits that are not of individuals in the conventional sense, but of figures shaped by war, violence, and the shared psychological scars left behind. These figures emerge from the ruins of cities, with human bodies merging with fragments of collapsed buildings and destroyed architecture. In these works, the human form and the city become inseparable a new kind of living architecture born from destruction.

The wounds of the city and its people are shared, intertwined in a single, sacred, meta-body that bears witness to suffering, endurance, and survival. Topiy’s work challenges us to reconsider the boundaries between human and environment. A body of the earth, reshaped through violence, yet still carrying life within it.
