National Tree Week 2026 runs from Sunday 8th - Sunday 15th March.

  • On Saturday 14th March, Cllr Seán Hartigan will lead a woodland walk in Castleconnell 11am – 12pm, meet at the Ferrybridge carpark.
  • On Saturday 14th March, Colm Galvin, from Living Woodlands will be in Watchhouse Cross Library from 2:30pm – 3:30pm. Join us to learn more about creating Biodiversity Havens/mini woodlands. Discover how to create the right soil conditions for woodland ecosystems, tree selection and community participation.

Free Saplings

Limerick City and County Council  are distributing free saplings at the following locations from 10am - 4.45pm

  • Mungret Recycling Centre, Monday 9th March to Saturday 14th March
  • Kilmallock Recycling Centre, Tuesday 10th March and Saturday 14th March
  • Newcastle West Recycling Centre, Wednesday 11th March and Saturday 14th March
