O’Connell Street has been the main thoroughfare and backbone of the city for centuries. It has a multitude of shops from end to end as do pedestrianised streets like Bedford Row and Cruises Street. William Street also recently got a revamp and has lots of stores.

The area around Thomas Street, Catherine Street and Roches Street, is dubbed ‘The Fashion Quarter’ because of an array of boutiques.

The many cafés here offer a variety of places to have a coffee or lunch.

The Milk Market, running Friday, Saturday and Sunday has grown into one of the best-known markets in Ireland and has all the charm of an outdoor market but is covered by a tensile roof.
