The Ballyhoura Walking Festival has been nominated for Irish Outdoor Experience of the Year at the 2026 Outsider Awards, a national awards programme celebrating the very best of Ireland’s outdoor experiences.
The nomination recognises the festival’s strong community focus and its role in connecting people with the landscapes, trails and rural heritage of the Ballyhoura region across North Cork and South-East Limerick.
The award is decided by public vote, and organisers are encouraging walkers, locals and supporters to get behind the festival.
Speaking about the nomination, Jana Mannion of Ballyhoura Development CLG said:
“This is a really positive recognition for everyone involved – from our volunteer walk leaders and local landowners to community groups and partners. The festival is about more than just walking; it’s about wellbeing, sustainability and showcasing the best of rural Ireland.”
Public voting is open and will close on the 8th February at 8pm - Voting Link Here
