Limerick and Clare Education Board is the state education and training authority for the Limerick and Clare region in Ireland. The authority plays a leading role in the provision of high quality education and training in the region.

Our professional and experienced team of Information Officers and Guidance Counsellors are here to support you to make informed choices on your education, training, career and employment opportunities.We provide information and one-to-one guidance appointments – (face-to-face and online appointments available) to help you with:

  • Exploring your strengths, skills, abilities and interests so that you have a deeper understanding of yourself and how this fits with choosing an education or career pathway.
  • Finding out about opportunities to further your education or career.
  • Deciding on what’s right for you and what you need to do to achieve your goals.
  • Funding, grants and other supports.

Sometimes, finding the best in you takes a bit of exploration. Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board offers hundreds of full-time and part-time Further Education and Training learning pathways at our multi-campus College of Further Education and Training across Limerick and Clare and over 300 other locations in the community.

Further Education and Training helps you get real skills for employment. We deliver programmes to over 25,000 learners in Limerick and Clare every year.

These learning pathways are for you if you want to enhance your opportunity for employment, up-skill while in employment, help you progress to further studies or develop a new skill.

Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board established one of six, national Local Creative Youth Partnerships (LCYPs) in 2019, under the auspices of Creative Ireland’s Creative Youth initiative.

Guided by the voice of the child and young person, the LCYP works in partnership with state and voluntary agencies to deliver creative programmes for young people, in communities across Limerick and Clare, over the life of the Creative Ireland plan up to 2022. Limerick and Clare LCYP identifies ‘the meeting point between formal and informal education’ as the site for nurturing its work and in this context works mainly in youth and community settings.

We work closely with:

  • Creative practitioners
  • Cultural organisations & resources
  • County Childcare Committee
  • Schools (Primary and Post-Primary)
  • Youth Officers, Youth service providers
  • Third Level Institutions
  • Family resource centres

The objective is to provide out of school creative activities for children and young people that complement and work with formal school settings.

Youthreach

The Youthreach programme provides two years integrated education, training and work experience for unemployed early school leavers without any qualifications or vocational training who are between 16 and 18 years of age.

Youthreach programmes are full-time, operate year-round, and you can apply at any time of the Youthreach offers a flexible and inclusive learning experience, combining general education and skills training for young people. Gain qualifications, receive a training allowance, receive wraparound supports such as mentoring and improve your employment and progression opportunities.year.

There are no costs for the programmes and, if you are 16 years of age or more, you will receive a weekly training allowance, a travel allowance, and provided meals while attending.

There are a number of Youthreach locations in Limerick City (Kilmallock Road, O’Connell Avenue and Northside) and Limerick County (Hospital and Shanagolden)
