Dr. Fitzgibbon was the Mid West Arts Officer in the early eighties and closely associated with many art projects and developments in this area. Subsequent to her time in Limerick, Marian moved to the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon where she was responsible for the development of the Local Arts strategy which led to the appointment of Arts Officers throughout the country.
After a stellar career in academia Marian’s commitment to the arts remains undiminished and she has sat on many institutional boards including, most recently, the National Library of Ireland.
