Festive Craft Fair one of the weekend’s highlights as Christmas cheer echoes around Limerick city centre

  • Christmas in Limerick

Limerick city centre will come alive with the sights and sounds of Christmas this weekend, as the festive season gets into full swing with a host of family-friendly entertainment.

The Light Up Limerick event which saw PAW Patrol characters Marshall, Skye and Chase help Mayor of the City and County of Limerick Cllr Stephen Keary turn on the city’s Christmas lights attracted more than 15,000 people onto O’Connell Street to mark the official start of the Christmas period.

And the festive treats keep on coming this weekend.

Limerick city centre is the place to be to soak up the atmosphere, as you come and shop local and enjoy the festivities.

If you fancy some unique Christmas presents, why not head to Bedford Row where the Festive Craft Fair will be around this weekend from 11am until 6pm each day (2-3 Dec).

The joys of Christmas will be heard throughout the city centre over the next two weekends (2–3 and 9 –10 Dec) as Musical Treats on Thomas Street fill the air with festive cheer as carol singers, bands, musicians and choirs entertain the Christmas shoppers.

For those who are a bit more energetic, Limerick on Ice returns by popular demand for another Christmas season right in the heart of Arthur’s Quay Park from Friday 1 Dec 2017 until the 7 Jan 2018.

And as the darkness descends, why not take a romantic horse drawn carriage tour around Limerick (from King John’s Castle from Friday 1 Dec 2017 until the 7 Jan 2018) to soak up the Christmas vibe and view all the Christmas lights around the city.
