Mayor of the City and County of Limerick, Cllr Liam Galvin, has congratulated Limerick club Na Piarsaigh on making AIB All Ireland club hurling championship history by bringing the Tommy Moore cup back to Limerick for the very first time.

“On behalf of the people of Limerick, I want to congratulate Na Piarsaigh on their stunning victory in Croke Park yesterday,” he said. “They gave a thrilling performance which has gladdened the hearts of all Limerick hurling supporters coming just six months after Limerick's All Ireland under 21 success. I want to pay tribute to Manager Shane O’Neill and all the backroom team who have worked tremendously hard with this talented Na Piarsaigh squad preparing for the finals and we look forward to formally recognising this famous victory over the coming days.”

Limerick City and County Council has also announced that a civic reception will take place to honour Na Piarsaigh at a later date.
