Deliveroo, the on-demand delivery service that brings high-quality restaurant meals to your door in an average 32 minutes, had announced the company’s plans to expand into Limerick in the coming months, which will create over 50 new rider jobs.

Deliveroo, the on-demand delivery service that brings high-quality restaurant meals to your door in an average 32 minutes, last week celebrated its first birthday in Ireland.

Since its launch in 2015, Deliveroo has signed-up more than 200 restaurants and created over 400 new jobs to service its platform operations across its four Irish hubs; Dublin, Cork, Galway and most recently, Belfast.

Speaking last week at a celebratory event to mark its first year in business in Ireland, Oliver Dewhurst, Deliveroo General Manager of Ireland, acknowledged the company’s Irish success and announced the company’s plans to expand into Limerick in the coming months, which will create over 50 new rider jobs.

"We’ve been blown away by the positive response to Deliveroo throughout our four cities of Dublin, Cork, Galway and Belfast and we see Limerick as the perfect next step in our ambitious plans for expansion in Ireland. Limerick city is an exciting food destination with a vibrant community of food businesses and food lovers, so we have high hopes that Deliveroo will perform well there.

“We know that people want to be able to order high-quality restaurant food quickly and easily and we also know that restaurants are keen to capitalise on new revenue streams. Deliveroo is the sweet spot between the two; we take care of the ordering and delivery infrastructure, and allow restaurants to focus on making great food.

We did some rough calculations this week, and we reckon our Deliveroo riders have covered more than 400,000km delivering meals to Irish homes and offices over the past 12 months, which is the same distance as cycling Limerick's O'Connell St more than 250,000 times - so, it’s been a memorable journey for us this past year and the good news is that with Limerick now on board, there’s lots more to come!”

Unlike the majority of food delivery businesses that act as marketplaces for takeaway restaurants, Deliveroo partners with high-end restaurants and cafés that don’t typically offer delivery, opening up a whole new world of choice for locals.

Deliveroo is focused on providing the ultimate food delivery experience. Customers have the option to schedule orders via the Deliveroo app up to one day in advance or receive food as soon as possible between 12 noon and 11pm, from a variety of leading local, independent and high-quality chain restaurants, conveniently delivered to their homes and offices in an average of 32 minutes.

Deliveroo launched in 2013 in London to provide the ultimate food delivery experience. Deliveroo currently operation in 61 cities, across 12 countries around the world.
