Playgrounds in Limerick

Swings, roundabouts, slides, ziplines, tunnels, climbing frames and forest trails - the many playgrounds in Limerick provide outdoor entertainment for children of all ages and abilities to run around and play. Here is a round-up of just some of the playgrounds in the city and county.

People's Park Playground

Adjacent to Limerick City Gallery of Art, this secure playground is within the People’s Park at Pery Square. It has ample space with a separate area for small children to the older children. The park itself is lovely to walk around with bandstand, drinking fountain and a large green area.

O'Brien's Park Playground

Set among mature native Irish trees (Oak, Ash and Birch) in the park, this playground is most suitable for smaller children. 

Castletroy Playground

As well as a fully equipped children’s playground, suitable for children of all ages and abilities, this public park has 1.2 km of pedestrian pathways, a skateboarding area, circular cycle route, and a central performance and exhibition area.

Abha Bhán Parish Park

Situated on the picturesque Shannon Estuary and Wild Atlantic Way and running adjacent to the Abha Bhán (White River), Abha Bhán Parish Park is purpose built for all ages and is fully wheelchair accessible which includes a wheelchair accessible toilet, wheelchair usable trampoline and carefully built sensory garden which means no child is excluded.

There is plenty of space, benches and seated areas to sit quietly or have a picnic on the 2.5 acre site which is surrounded by natural trees, shrubs and wild flower meadow making the park biodiversity compliant. 

Manor Fields Adare Playground

An all-abilities playground, set in a 25-acre community owned facility with walking trails and pitches.

Mungret Playground

At Mungret Playground the play equipment is suitable for both able and non able bodied children and there is a sensory area for children on the autistic spectrum. The park and playground is not just for children, there are also two kilometres of walk and cycle paths and stunning views from the top of the site.
