The fostering service assesses people who wish to foster and provides support to foster families to enable them to provide a good standard of care for the children they look after.
Children are placed in foster families where their parents are unable to care for them. A care plan for the child is drawn up which sets out the support to be provided to the child and the foster parents and the arrangements for access to the child in foster care by parents or relatives.
