Building on last week’s successful progressing to second stage for the Irish designation as Ireland’s European Capital of Culture, the 2020 bid team in conjunction with the Creative Communities consortium will host a public brainstorming session – a Citizen Substation - about the River Shannon on Saturday 28 November.

The Substation aims to bring citizens together to discuss a common topic and will be facilitated so as to ensure all ideas and voices are heard. This  Citizen Susbstation continues to provide a platform for Limerick’s citizens to harness and share their creative energy, passion and special knowledge around a topic identified by the public during the Limerick 2020 consultation process.

The River Shannon forms the basis for the first Substation because it was the topic most discussed than any other. Saturday’s event will bring people together to share ideas, experiences and memories.

The programme will be based on a World Café model with facilitators at each table and a graphic illustrator on hand to help translate ideas and conversations into engaging illustrations.

It takes place on Saturday 28 November from 1pm – 4pm at the Shannon Rowing Club on Sarsfield Bridge. Light refreshments will be provided, and participation is free for everyone.
