Keep the kids entertained this May Bank Holiday weekend with a raft of family fun activities at Riverfest Limerick, including many free events.

Let your little explorers discover Limerick City with the Riverfest Scavenger Hunt or get their hands on some colourful gunge at the educational Slime Factory at Limerick’s Fab Lab.

With a favourable tide there are more river-based spectator activities planned this year including dragon boat racing, the Eco Showboat and the Riverfest Swim. Or why not get active and try stand up paddle boarding or see the city from a different perspective with a kayaking tour of the Shannon?

A Fly Boarding water-based stunt show on the river will amaze young and old with dolphin dives, backflips and daredevil tricks.

Those who are brave enough can freefall with the Riverfest Freedrop, a new introduction to the festival this year. The popular Panoramic Wheel will also take you to dizzying heights.

Sample tasty treats at the Riverfestival Village or the sizzling atmosphere at the BBQ on the Boardwalk. The Riverfest Spectacular Fireworks are the perfect excuse for a later bedtime on Sunday night.

Children and adults with autism can get away from it all at the Chill Out Zone and Sensory Room.

Senior Executive Officer for Tourism at Limerick City and County Council, Eileen Coleman said: “With Riverfest, we endeavour to appeal to all audiences and age groups.  It’s so important for families to spend quality time together, especially during the Bank Holiday weekends and there are a number of events that families can enjoy together. Older children will enjoy our Rogu Firestorm show, our Riverfest Freedrop and the spectacular Fireworks Display.  Younger children can enjoy Fly Boarding on the river and our Scavenger Hunt in the city centre.”

Kicking off the summer season in style, Riverfest Limerick showcases all that is great about Limerick.

The festival runs from Friday 28 April to Monday 1 May 2023.
