First Fortnight is a charity that challenges mental health prejudice through arts and cultural action and the provision of creative therapies to marginalised groups. Every January they run a programme, the First Fortnight Mental Health Art & Culture Festival. As part of the January 2021 festival programme, they are looking to continue the work of Mind Reading.
This involves bringing libraries, book clubs and book lovers together to join First Fortnight to shine a spotlight on mental health-books during the month of January.
Please see the below First Fortnight Recommended Reading List. Authors include Caelainn Hogan, Emma Dabiri, Angi Dixon, Niall Breslin, Charlie Mackesy, Matt Haig, Ruairí McKiernan, Havin’ A Laugh and Christie Watson. From beautiful illustrations to hitchhiking for hope to exploring long overdue conversations for a future, healthier Ireland, there is hopefully something for everyone for this new year.
