All Saints Church Castleconnell

  • All Saints Church Castleconnell, Co. Limerick.

If walls could talk I wonder what secrets they could tell, well wonder no more, as these walls truly tell a unique story.

The grounds of All Saints Church Castleconnell hold an ancient and sacred history - the first known place of worship on this site was originally founded in the 6th Century. After being destroyed by Vikings a second place of worship was erected between 1400 and 1410, part of the walls of this old church can still be seen to the rear of the present building. After the war of 1641 the old church was in such a ruinous state that it was rebuilt to the present building for the sum of £3,18 Shillings and 10 Pence Sterling. The church has been in full use since the end of the 1700s.

Today All Saints Church is also a unique entertainment venue, home to a range of concerts and events through out the year, including the Autumn Concert Series which takes place in September, Christmas Carol Service in December and Saints and Singers Festival which takes place over the May Bank Holiday Weekend.
