Dooradoyle is a relatively new suburb of Limerick city, built from the 1960’s onwards. It is an attractive location for families and for business, with the neighbouring Raheen Business Park providing significant employment to the area.
The current population is in excess of 16,000. It has a number of significant services and facilities including Limerick City & County Council; the University Hospital Limerick and the Crescent Shopping Centre as well as a number of primary and secondary schools and sports facilities.
Dooradoyle is also home to the respective Garryowen and Old Crescent rugby clubs. The Old Crescent Rugby grounds play host to The Pig n’ Porter; the World’s largest Tag Rugby Festival every July.
This weekend long festival attracts thousands of visitors to watch and play tag rugby and to enjoy the atmosphere of the Old Crescent RFC and Limerick city. Dooradoyle is a well situated tourist base for Limerick city and beyond due to its close proximity to national road infrastructure. Dooradoyle also has a wide variety of pubs and restaurants.
