Limerick secured a historic Munster double in the two main grades, adding an Electric Ireland Minor Hurling Championship win to their senior success nine days ago with a thrilling replay defeat of Waterford in Thurles last Night.

The throw-in was delayed by 10 minutes due to crowd congestion, but when the game did get underway it was equally as enthralling as the sides' epic draw at the Gaelic Grounds last Sunday week.

Limerick outscored the Déise by 0-09 to 0-02 at one stage in the second half to secure their sixth title in the Un.18 grade, and their first since 1984. Crucially, it also completed the county's first minor-senior double since 1940.

Waterford looked on course for victory when Stephen Bennett completed his hat-trick of goals in the 57th minute, but the Treaty County hit back with the final three scores of the game, from Ronan Lynch, David Dempsey and Pat Ryan to ease over the line. Limerick led by 1-07 to 2-2 at the break, Cian Lynch's added time goal giving them the advantage.
