Limerick School of Art & Design celebrates a hat-trick for the second year in a row at the Triumph Inspiration Award 2012

Twenty-one year old fashion design student Jordan Edmonds Moore from Crecora in Limerick was named winner of the prestigious lingerie design competition, The Triumph Inspiration Award 2012, which took place in Brown Thomas Dublin last week.

The second year student from the Limerick School of Art & Design was thrilled to be announced winner with his futuristic design entitled ‘The Rorschach Test’ which was worn by stunning model Sarah Morrissey. 

His design is an exploration of the Rorschach inkblot test and how it can be translated into lingerie and Jordan will now go on to represent Ireland at the global final of the Triumph Inspiration Awards in Shanghai this October.

The Limerick School of Art & Design celebrated a clean sweep last night, with second place going to Colin Horgan from Tralee, Co Kerry with his design entitled “The Reborn Bionic”, which took influence from a robotic metal dragon, and in third place was Leanne Ryan from Newmarket-on-Fergus in Co Clare with her design entitled “Beneath the Skin”, which took influence from the muscular movement of butterflies, making it a hat-trick for the college for the second year in a row.

Brown Thomas Dublin was delighted to host the Irish National Final of the Triumph Inspiration Awards 2012 last night and the atmosphere in the store was electric with students, their supporters, Brown Thomas customers and a number of press, top stylists and bloggers all enjoying the occasion.

16 second year fashion students from the Limerick School of Art & Design and Griffith College Dublin were selected to take part in this prestigious final, which this year was judged by acclaimed TV personality and judge of hugely popular TV shows Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing with the Stars, Bruno Tonioli, Brown Thomas creative director John Redmond, Triumph marketing manager Purminder Mondair and Sunday Independent columnist Triona McCarthy. Stylish Xposé presenter Karen Koster acted as MC on the evening.

Triumph is of the world’s leading lingerie and shapewear brands and once again challenged young students from all over the world with the fifth annual Triumph Inspiration Award, the industry’s leading design contest in lingerie.

In Ireland, Triumph invited students from Griffith College Dublin and the Limerick School of Art & Design to demonstrate their creativity and expertise by producing a catwalk showpiece to represent this year’s theme “Dragons and Butterflies”.

These quintessential Chinese symbols that represent opposing elements were chosen because the International Grand Final is taking place in Shanghai this October.  Jordan will travel to Shanghai to represent Ireland at the International Grand Final and their design will compete against 30 other national winners – an invaluable experience for any budding designer.

The Triumph Inspiration Awards curates the most innovative and inspirational lingerie designs and provides a prestigious platform to showcase their designs. 

The students participating in the International Grand Final will be judged by a renowned jury of fashion, design and media, whose names are yet to be announced. The experts from the last years Final include Viktor&Rolf, Ellen von Unwerth, Lily Cole and Helena Christensen, to name but a few.

The winner of the TIA 2012 will follow Boglarka Bodis’ footsteps, the Hungarian winner from Triumph Inspiration Award 2011. Her extraordinary creative design “Les Fleurs du Mal” will be commercialized into a limited edition collection that will be available in autumn 2012 in selected stores.  

Launched in 2008, the Triumph Inspiration Award is an annual contest that recruits design student from around the globe to create unique lingerie showpieces that draw out the best of their artistic vision. Approximately 9,300 students took part since the beginning of the contest that is now established as the industry’s leading fashion design award.

The TIA Award aims to give creative young students an experience of the world of lingerie, encouraging their talents, stretching their capabilities and honing their skills. The main goal: to inspire young designers who will, in turn, inspire those that come after them.
