2012-09-30: Limerick Racecourse held a coffee morning in aid of The Irish Hospice Foundation as part of Ireland largest coffee morning in The Hunt Museum, Limerick on Thursday 20th of September.
A large crowd turned out to support the event to include Deputy Mayor Denis McCarthy, our Ladies day Judge Triona McCarthy, our raceday sponsors as well as the general public. Guests were treated to tea/coffee and yummy cupcakes with Limerick own 'Da horse' outside with a sum of €500 raised for Hospice services.
The event was also the launch of the Ladbrokes Ireland Munster National and Keanes Jewellers Ladies day which shall take place on Sunday 14th of October from 2.25pm. Vintage is the theme of the day in honor of the oldest race in Munster dating back to the 1920’s.
In 2011 the Ladbrokes Munster National - was won by Muirhead, ridden by Paul Carberry and trained by Noel Meade. Paul Carberry oozed confidence on the eight-year-old, challenging favourite Bideford Legend in the straight before pulling away to win by a length and three-quarters with Uncle Junior third. Muirhead who has career earnings of €279,636, may well be back to retain his crown having won nicely at Galway on his last start.
