Celtic Horizon Tours together with the Irish Marching Band Association are proud to present the Celtic Horizon Open 2019 which will take place in Limerick City and the University of Limerick from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th July.

Over the course of three days, bands and audiences will be invited to participate and enjoy SoundSport events, WAMSB sanctioned field show events, parades, and street performances in both Limerick City and at the campus of University of Limerick.

No matter the size, standard, style, or age profile of your band or performing group, there's an event and performance for you!

Programme of Events

Friday

All Day - Fringe Performances in Limerick City
Throughout the day, bands will be invited to perform in locations around Limerick City! If you’re in town, watch out!!

All Day - Registration
Bands and instructors arriving today can register and collect their name badges as well as their members credentials.

5pm to 9pm - Instructor Workshops
We have some of the worlds greatest music and marching educators present at our festival not only to judge, but to give valuable advice and feedback for your programmes. A full list of workshop will be available soon.
 

Saturday

8am to 12pm - Registration
Bands and instructors arriving today can register and collect their name badges as well as their members credentials.

8am to 12pm - Concert Band Competition
Bands will have the opportunity to show our WAMSB judges their skills in a concert band setting. This is a free event for audiences!

2pm to 3pm - Opening Ceremony
Our festival formally kicks off as we raise the flags prior to our parade.

3pm to 4pm - Parade Competition
Winding through the campus of University of Limerick and across the famous UL bridge where we’ll cross from County Limerick to County Clare and back again.

6pm to 8pm - SoundSport in the City
Bands of all shapes, sizes, ages, and abilities will perform for audiences in Arthur’s Quay Park at SoundSport in the City. Energy and entertainment are encouraged and the audience will play a part in deciding the award winners!

9pm to late - Festival BBQ
After a busy day of performing we’ll have the chance to unwind and get to know each other a little more!


Sunday

9am to 12pm - Instructor Workshops

9am to 12pm - Rehearsals & Warm-ups
Rehearsal and warm-up facilities will be available for bands throughout the day and will be scheduled with each band director.

12pm to 4pm - Field Show & Parade Competitions
For many, the field show competitions represent the main events of the festival. These competitions will be judged by both a panel of WASMB and DCE judges.

5pm to 7pm - Closing Awards Ceremony
We’ll say our goodbyes until next year and congratulate our performers on a magnificent weekend of music!
