The 6th Bring Your Limericks To Limerick Festival will take place from 24th - 26th August 2018.
From humble beginnings, the festival has grown into a hearty line-up of writing workshops, poetry workshops, competition and storytelling.
Supported by the Limerick Writers' Centre and Global Limerick, the main aim of the festival is to make poetry (especially the Limerick verse), and creative writing accessible to the wider public, by inviting people from around the world to participate in the Bring Your Limericks to Limerick competition.
Each year we invite the public to send us their original Limericks (full rules here). The best Limerick is judged by a panel of experts and there is a first prize of €500, not bad for a 5 line poem.
The fun-packed weekend includes a bus tour on Friday, poetry workshops and the main competition on Saturday, and poetry recitals on Sunday. The festival is designed to encourage participation and to promote Limerick as the home of this little famous five line poem.
