The magic of Christmas will descend on Limerick's O'Connell Street on Sunday 19th November when the Christmas lights are officially switched on.
Thousands of people are expected to attend the ‘Light up Limerick’ switching on ceremony organised by Limerick City and County Council which takes place at 6pm on O’Connell Street with entertainment starting from 4.30pm.
The highlight will be the switching on of the lights by Skye, Marshall and Chase from the popular children’s TV show PAW Patrol who are taking time out from their heroic adventures to help Mayor Stephen Keary and Santa Claus kickstart the festive season in Limerick.
Prior to that, the crowds will be entertained by street performers and special guests including soprano Sinéad O’Brien, tenor Derek Moloney, Limerick Gospel Choir and musician Jason Hennessy ahead of the biggest cheer of the weekend in the city when the spectacular lights display switches on.
Access to the event will be from Bedford Row, Thomas Street and Sarsfield Street.
The Christmas programme in Limerick is being co-ordinated by Limerick City and County Council Arts Office and the Office of Marketing and Communications with support from Grooveyard Event Management and GoldieFish events.
Full details of Christmas in Limerick 2017 will be announced at the event.
