We are delighted to announce a significant “trilogy” of exhibitions: Mary Swanzy, Voyages, curated by Sean Kissane, IMMA; Robert Ryan, Forgotten Existence and Fiona O’ Dwyer, I Went Up The Mountain With Someone Else’s Story and Dame Down With My Own.
Both Ryan and O’ Dwyer are graduates of Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD) and live locally – Ryan in Lough Gur and O’Dwyer in Co. Clare.
LCGA is very pleased to be the final venue for the Mary Swanzy exhibition, Voyages, curated by Sean Kissane, IMMA. Mary Swanzy (1882-1978) was a pioneering figure in Irish art. Born in Dublin she was educated in Dublin, Freiburg and Paris at the turn of the century. From 1914, she exhibited at the Paris Salons. Her record of achievement is unsurpassed by her better-known contemporaries yet there has not been a substantial exhibition of Swanzy’s work in Ireland for over 50 years.
