  • King John's Castle
  • The Hunt Museum

After arriving at your hotel, pick up a Limerick City walking map to find your feet and start exploring. The Three Bridges walk is an excellent way to get a sense of the city.

The looped walk follows a stunning route by the banks of the River Shannon, through the historic Medieval Quarter, past the Treaty Stone and along the scenic riverside boardwalks. If the tide is low you’ll spot poetic reference It Will Rise With The Moon along the river wall, a glimmer of hope for us all. Stop to feed the swans and take a selfie with statue of Limerick broadcasting legend Terry Wogan.

A visit to King John’s Castle is a must for families. While away a couple of hours as you travel back through time and re-live medieval times in the city’s 800 year old fortress. Children will love the dazzling array of computer generated animations and ghostly projections and the education and activity room is bustling with tasks to stimulate curious minds.

A lunch stop at one of the city’s cosy cafés or snug pubs - Katie Daly’s Heritage Pub & KitchenJack Monday’s Coffee House, the Curragower and The Locke Bar & Restaurant – all a short walk from the castle.

Keep an eye out for some of Limerick's edgy street art along the way - The Cranberries' lead singer Dolores O'Riordan and renowned actress Constance Smith on Nicholas Street and Sionna the river goddess on Bridge Street.

After lunch, amble up to the People’s Park and Playground. Download the Adventure Walks App for a fun family treasure hunt around the park.

Make time for a special afternoon treat at one of Limerick’s quirky cafés Nutella pancakes at The Buttery | Gelato at Gusto d’Italia

Pop by the Hunt Museum and enjoy the Discovery Trail - a fun and interactive way for families to explore and experience the museum. Pick up a souvenir from the Hunt Museum shop and stop for a pic with the horses outside.

Dinosaur lovers will love Jurassic Parrr Mini Golf, Ireland’s first UV crazy golf course. Meet apex predators like the Tyrannosaurus Rex and gentle giants like the Mighty Stegosaurus as you navigate your way across 18 glow in the dark holes | Mon -Thu until 9pm.
