Croom Family Resource Centre

Croom Family Resource Centre was set up in response to deficits in locally available childcare, training and second chance education. In 2004 we were approved for inclusion under the Community & Family Resource Centre programme. In January 2006, the Family Resource Centre became a limited company. The Centre has been open full-time since January 2008. The organisation operates a Pre-School service, delivers a Family Support programme, runs Community Development projects and facilitates other agencies to access space and deliver services. We use various different working methods such as: Providing Information, Providing Resources, Establishing Groups, Helping Groups, Providing Education and Training, Counselling and Support, Networking Locally, Community Based Arts, Setting up Networks or Initiatives and Policy Work.

The mission of the Family Resource Centre is to effect change by addressing inequality for all. We aim to provide opportunities, encourage participation and enable people to help themselves and others thereby, fostering a greater sense of belonging and creating a stronger community. We wish to provide a safe and welcoming environment, to treat people with dignity and respect and to restore confidence at a personal level. While the Family Resource Centre is based in Croom our services are available to a wider catchment area covering such areas as Ballingarry, Ballygrennan, Coolrus, Ballynabanogue, Athlacca, Bruree, Crean and Bruff.
