Students at University of Limerick have unveiled a design exhibition which has exciting and creative problem solving at its heart and employs real-world research. The work by graduating students of architecture and product design at UL has this Thursday (23 May) gone on public display in the FabLab on Rutland Street in Limerick City as part of the Design @ UL Showcase 2019.
It was opened by Professor Kerstin Mey, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Engagement at UL.
Exciting and creative problem solving is at the heart of the exhibition, which gives members of the public a chance to see the work of some of Ireland’s most talented young designers, likely to influence the future of design across a range of fields from architecture to product design to technology to healthcare.
Employing real-world research, students have spent the year exploring new technologies and potential futures, challenging perceptions and improving everyday human interaction with the physical world.
This year’s Design@UL show is the third showcase of undergraduate work under the new School of Design at UL. It demonstrates what can be achieved through interdisciplinary collaboration and offers a vision of change for design education and research in Ireland.
The exhibition will run until June 5 (9.30am - 5.30pm Monday to Friday) at FabLab, Rutland Street, Limerick.
