Limerick Pride 2020 Cancelled

  • Limerick Pride Festival 2019

We are all in unprecedented times. Limerick Pride like many other organisations has continued to closely monitor the current situation of the outbreak of COVID-19, while also speaking with many of the different organisations involved working to help bring the virus under full control.

It is with a heavy heart to announce that the Limerick Pride 2020 committee have made the very difficult decision to cancel this year’s Limerick Pride Festival which was due to take place July 6-12, 2020.

As an annual festival, like many others, months of preparations had already been done. We were very excited to announce all our plans for this year, but we feel as a family friendly Pride with growing numbers attending each year, attracting people of all ages, that the public wellbeing and safety needs to be of the utmost importance.

We would like to thank our amazing frontline staff who are risking their lives on a daily basis in order to help us in many ways and hope this decision will be of some help in reducing the numbers that need their help.

However, on a positive note, plans have already begun for Limerick Pride July 2021, so expect a much bigger and brighter Limerick Pride than ever before.

Every year Pride is about sending out a message to the world in order to highlight LGBTQI+ rights issues, but it is a celebration of who we are. It’s the one time of year we can truly be ourselves surrounded by our chosen family. Our message this year is listen to the advice being giving by the HSE, let’s work together as a wider community in helping contain this virus as we all have a part to play. Again we want to give a massive thank you to all our amazing frontline staff.

Thank you for your understanding during this time and please follow our social media accounts for further updates. We look forward to bringing you an amazing Limerick Pride 2021, but for now please stay safe and look after each other as we all have our part to play in this.
