AIB’s Head of Business Banking Catherine Moroney and local author Roisin Meaney were the keynote speakers at a special Network Ireland Limerick event which took place in AIB’s 106 O’Connell Street branch, Limerick on Thursday 22 March.

The AIB-sponsored event examined the theme ‘Pay It Forward’ and was attended by over 60 women in business, the professions and the arts in the Mid-west.

Catherine Moroney, Head of Business Banking, AIB, said that by applying the concept of Pay It Forward it “helps you, your business and your region to thrive.” But she warned “you can’t do for others until you do to yourself first. You need to look after your own energy first before considering coaching and mentoring.” She then went on to share her three secrets to minding her energy and resilience after four decades in business.

Limerick author Roisin Meaney, who is an advocate for random acts of kindness, encouraged attendees to practice kindness. “Kindness is inherent in all of us but some people lose it. Do something with no expectation for anything in return. The opportunities are everywhere,” Ms Meaney said.

Valerie Murphy, President of Network Ireland Limerick, said “This theme is very close to our heart. Network Ireland Limerick is all about collaboration. During the working day everyone is focused on working on their own initiative and efforts to move forward.  We provide a platform for women in business to come together, share their experiences and learn from each other.”
