Christopher Lynch Singing Bursary Call Out 2020

Singers in Limerick who are  keen to develop their talent further stand to benefit from the fourth Christopher Lynch Singing Bursary award but please note the deadline for applications is Friday 20th March 2020. This bursary, which is an initiative of the Rathkeale Community Arts Group, and supported by Limerick City and County Council, offers €1,500 to further the training and career of a classical singer who is from or who lives in Limerick city or county. 

“We are absolutely delighted to be in a position to offer this bursary,” said Chairperson of Rathkeale Community Arts Group, Norma Prendiville when the group announced the award scheme.

“Over many years, our group has worked to ensure that the talent and achievements of the late Christopher Lynch have not been forgotten. At the height of his career, he was a singing super-star here at home and in the US and we have organised concerts and produced material which recall and honour those achievements,” she added.

Previous winners are Sinéad O’Brien, Sarah Shine, Enda Walshe and Kevin Neville. It is named in honour of the late Christopher Lynch, a lyric tenor from Rathkeale who forged a singing career in Ireland in the 1940's and became a household name in the US.
