Ballyhoura Development nominated in prestigious European award

Ballyhoura Development CLG received news this week of the nomination for the Ballyhoura Community Inclusion Toolkit in the prestigious Regiostars European Awards.

The Ballyhoura Community Inclusion Toolkit, launched in December 2018, is a practical aid for community and voluntary organisations across the region to assist in challenges faced in attracting volunteers, engaging people in community activities and fostering legacy and succession.

The project is one of only four national projects endorsed by the European Structural Funds Policy and Operations Unit.

Over a 12-month period, three community groups (ACM Castleconnell, Mitchelstown Community Council and Kilmallock District & Community Council) supported the development of the toolkit for use by all.

The nomination of the Ballyhoura Development initiative is based on its relevance for groups, not just in the region, but at a national and European level.

The nomination relies on public vote as well as an independent, high level jury, composed of some of Europe’s top researchers.

The Board, staff and teams at Ballyhoura Development CLG would appreciate all public support in the region. To make a nomination visit the RegioStars Awards on the European Commission website and click on the 'thumbs up' symbol for the Ballyhoura Community Inclusion Toolkit.

CEO of Ballyhoura Development CLG Padraig Casey paid testament to the communities and staff in the Ballyhoura area for striving to make positive change in often challenging environments.

Announcements will be made later this summer.
