It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for – live music and comedy gigs are back with a bang! Limerick will rock to its own beat this summer with a stellar line-up of internationally acclaimed artists and local home grown talents set to wow the crowds throughout the city and county. Here’s a roundup of some of the headliners taking to the stage in Limerick this summer! 

1. Crowded House

Iconic multi-platinum selling band Crowded House brings their international tour Shannon-side for a unique live music experience in the heart of medieval Limerick City! Dolans presents Crowded House Live at the Castle where gig-goers can expect a mix of majestic ballads peppered with new material from their recently released album Dreamers are Waiting. Here’s hoping the Australian rockers bring the weather with them! Tuesday 28th June.

2. Van Morrison Live at the Castle

Limerick audiences are in for a real treat as music legend Sir Van Morrison takes to the stage at King John’s Castle this summer. Renowned worldwide for his revered musical talents, the award-winning artist will perform a special headline show in the Treaty City as part of his worldwide tour, and, with a back catalogue of 43 studio albums under his belt, Van the Man has plenty of crowd-pleasers to choose from! Wednesday 29th June.

3. Twilight Racing with Nathan Carter

We have it straight from the horse’s mouth that country music’s brightest star Nathan Carter is set to return to Limerick Racecourse as part of this year’s Summer Twilight Racing Festival! 

Racegoers can enjoy an afternoon of top class racing before Nathan Carter lights up the stage with all the classic hits that have made him a firm favourite with Irish audiences! Thursday 7th July.

4. Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan

Thousands of musicians, singers, dancers and storytellers are set to descend on Newcastle West, Co. Limerick for Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan, an annual celebration of our Irish cultural traditions. Get set for a bumper week of sean-nós dancing, comhrá Gaeilge, singing sessions and toe-tapping traditional music throughout the town! Wednesday 13th to Saturday 16th July.

5. Anna's Anchor

Indie rock stalwart Anna's Anchor is homeward bound to perform their biggest ever headline show in Dolans Warehouse! Self-described as “honest songs for honest people”, Anna’s Anchor is the creation of Limerick singer-songwriter Marty Ryan. 

The upcoming show is based on their latest album A Glorious Ruction, crafted as an inspiring backdrop to Limerick City’s ionic Three Bridges Walk, a scenic walking route around the River Shannon. The album’s pacing has been cleverly synced with city sights and landmarks and is a real reflection of Marty’s love of his home city. Saturday 23 July.

6. Copper Face Jacks: The Musical

Paul Howard’s smash hit show, Copper Face Jacks: The Musical, hits University Concert Hall Limerick for the first time this summer! 

Set on the eve of a Dublin v Kerry All-Ireland final, when a sweet Kerry falls head over sensible shoes for the Dublin football team captain, it is a rollercoaster ride of cultural and linguistic hurdles on their road to happiness/Croker! 

Promising wall-to-wall belly laughs, Culchies (ahem!), Dubs, an incredible cast and laugh-out-loud shenanigans from start to finish, it’s safe to say the craic is back! Tuesday 26th – Saturday 30th July.

7. The Coronas

One of Ireland’s best-loved bands The Coronas make a welcome return to Limerick to play Live at the Castle. As seasoned performers on the live music circuit, the Coronas sure know how to work a crowd! The castle walls will abound with the sounds of the band’s big tunes, rousing renditions and electric energy – Limerick will be lit this summer! Friday 19th August.

8. Denise Chaila

If you missed the chance to see Limerick’s Denise Chaila slay the stage during her performances on Ed Sheeran’s Irish arena tour at Thomond Park, then here’s a date for your diary! The 061 native and winner of the RTÉ Choice Music Prize Irish Album of the Year plays her headline gig live at King John’s Castle this summer. There’s only one place to be that night – Anseo! Saturday 20th August.

9. The Riptide Movement

Renowned for their energetic live shows and soaring, guitar driven anthems, The Riptide Movement return to play Dolans Warehouse for one night. With six studio records, a catalogue of hit songs and a string of live global performances to their name, their intimate show at Limerick’s leading music venue is sure to be something special! Saturday 20th August.

10. Paolo Nutini - Live at the Milk Market

Scottish singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini is Limerick-bound and the excitement is real! The Sunny Side Up singer will play not one, but two dates at the iconic Limerick Milk Market. The announcement comes ahead of the release of his new album Last Night In The Bittersweet, which drops in July. Fans lucky enough to get tickets for this much-anticipated gig are in for a treat with lots of new material from this musical maestro! Sunday 21st & Monday 22nd August.

11. "Well" by Pat and Faye Shortt

Father and daughter comedic duo Pat and Faye Shortt bring their hilarious new stage show Well to Friars’ Gate Theatre, Kilmallock. The show follows the unfortunate demise of a pair of country and Irish music hopefuls as they attempt to ascend the heights of their local music scene by playing a gig in the town’s hotel. Something tells us that this combination of comedy talents and array of superbly funny madcap characters will be well worth the wait! Saturday 24 September.
