Russel park was officially opened on the 25th July 1989. It is used for recreational purposes such as walking and jogging.

Planting in the park consists of trees such as Alder, Ash, Flowering Cherry, Lime, London Plane, Oak and Willow as well as naturalised planting of daffodils in springtime.
