Water Safety

Limerick City and County Council is responsible for the promotion of water safety and the prevention of the loss of life by drowning within the boundary of Limerick and on the rivers and navigation channels.

Limerick City and County Council works closely with the local Fire and Rescue Services, Civil Defence Units and local search and rescue units.

Be Summer Ready

During the summer months, Ireland’s waterways and beaches become very popular. More people visit the countryside, engage in outdoor pursuits, visit family farms or take holidays abroad. With these activities there are associated risks. As part of the government's 'Be Summer Ready' campaign information on being prepared and staying safe during these summer months is available in a 'Be Summer Ready' booklet which is available to download here.
