IS Technical Officer - closing date 22nd August 2022

Limerick City and County Council are proposing to form a panel where permanent and temporary posts may be filled during the lifetime of the panel for the role of IS Technical Officer {Grade V}.

The IS Technical Officer will report to the Digital Services Business Systems Manager as part of the Digital Transformation Team in the Digital Services Department. The successful candidate will be tasked with providing a high standard of hands on technical support, project management and proactive application maintenance for business systems for Limerick City and County Council.  An ability to ensure product quality and stability and a determination to professionally manage and resolve potentially complex issues in a fast-paced environment is required.  The position will play a key role in the delivery of Local Authority digital services as part of Smart Limerick’s digital transformation roadmap.

Duties will include but will not be limited to:

  • Provide technical support and maintenance for client and web-based applications across a variety of tech stacks, including SQL Server, Sugar CRM, .Net, PHP, Azure/AWS Cloud Services, SSRS, API’s, Windows Server, IIS
  • Support day-to-day operations of the Digital Services department;
  • Responsible for maintaining the agreed operational levels for ICT Systems;
  • Responsible for database administration, primarily using MS-SQL;
  • Responsible for configuring and troubleshooting Windows and Linux servers, computer networks and user access control management, mobile app management;
  • Represent Limerick City and County Council on technical issues with vendors;
  • Provide technical support and training (individual, group, classroom-based) to internal and external customers;
  • Project management & ticket management of systems implementation, migrations and upgrades;
  • Participate in the ongoing digital transformation and change management programmes;
  • Participate in personal and professional development through formal and informal training;
  • Perform other duties as required by the line manager;
  • Represent the department and organisation at internal, local and national meetings as required


Salary Scale: €44,574 to €53,454 per annum dependent on performance and inclusive of two long service increments.
