Notice of Proposed Variation No. 5(a) (incorporation of the Proposed Limerick Northern Distributor Road) & 5(b) (incorporation of the vacant site levy) to the Extended Limerick County development Plan 2010 – 2016
- General Information Leaflet & Map in relation to proposed variation no. 5(a) which comprises of the incorporation of the proposed Limerick Northern Distributor Road.
In accordance with the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended) notice is hereby given that Limerick City and County Council being the Planning Authority for Limerick, has prepared a proposed variation No. 5(a) & 5(b) to the Limerick County Development Plan 2010-2016.
Proposed Variation no. 5 (a) to the Limerick County Development Plan 2010 – 2016 comprises of the incorporation of the proposed Limerick Northern Distributor Road.
Proposed Variation no. 5 (b) comprises of the incorporation of the vacant site levy, which forms part of the Urban Regeneration and Housing Act 2015.
For the purposes of the Planning and Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment) Regulations 2013, in relation to proposed variation 5(a)
- an Strategic Environmental Assessment Report,
- an Appropriate Assessment Natura Impact Report
- and a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment have been prepared
In relation to proposed variation 5(b) a Strategic Environmental Assessment Screening and Habitats Directive Assessment Screening Report have been prepared.
A copy of the proposed variation may also be inspected at the locations listed below during the public display period from Saturday 25th February 2017 to Monday 27th March 2017 inclusive.

Submissions or observations may be made by any person, group or association and from children, or groups or associations representing the interests of children.
Any submissions or observations with respect to the proposed variation to the Plan, made in writing, to the Forward/Strategic Planning Section, Economic Development Directorate Limerick City & County Council, 7/8 Patrick Street, Limerick or emailed to email@example.com and received by close of business on Monday 27th March 2017 will be taken into consideration before any decision to vary the County Development Plan is made.

The County Development Plan 2010-2016 set out overall policies and strategies for the proper planning and sustainable development of Limerick. The legal basis for the plan is set out in the Planning and Development Acts 2000, as amended
In September 2015, in accordance with Section 28 of the Electoral, Local Government and Planning and Development Act 2013, the Planning Authority proposed not to commence the review of the Limerick County Development Plan 2010 - 2016 and the Limerick City Development Plan 2010 - 2016. Therefore the County Development Plan will continue to have effect until a new Development Plan for Limerick City and County is prepared.
Section 11B requires that within 12 months of the making of regional planning guidelines that take into account the amalgamation of the administrative areas concerned, i.e. Limerick City and County Council, the preparation of a development plan for its administrative area must commence. The preparation of the Regional Guidelines is due to commence this year. It is expected that the review of the Development Plans will commence by the end of 2016 or early 2017.
