Control of Horses
Limerick City and County Council enforces the Control of Horses Act, 1996 and the
Horse Notices
An authorised person or a member of the Garda Síochána may seize horses in accordance with Section 37 of the Control of Horses Act, 1996. Under the Limerick City and County Council (Control of Horses) Bye-Laws, 2017 seized horses are detained for five days from the date of seizure.
Pay Your Dog Licence Online

Register of Dog Breeding Establishments
Dog breeding establishments are premises where no less than six bitches more than six months old and capable of being used for breeding purposes are kept.
Register of Seized Dogs
The register of dogs seized by Limerick City and County Council Dog Wardens or detained by any other person and notified to the Dog Wardens.
Rehome a Dog from Limerick Dog Shelter
The Limerick Dog Shelter assists as many dogs as possible in the Limerick area to find their new home or a space within a rescue centre, and to reunite lost/found dogs with their owners.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic the Dog Shelter is operating on an appointment only basis.
