Culture Night 2021 will take place this year on Friday 17th September, so it’s time to start planning our events and activities for the Limerick region! In light of ongoing Covid-19 government restrictions on events and gatherings, this year our focus will be on outdoor events. Limerick Arts Office are asking for all venues and cultural organisations who have outdoor space to register their interest in programming and hosting a Culture Night activity hub.
Culture Night is always great fun and offers the perfect opportunity for us as a region to showcase the wealth of culture that Limerick has to offer. It is a night to celebrate the cultural, artistic and creative communities of our city and county by inviting existing and new audiences into our outdoor cultural spaces.
In light of the Covid-19 outbreak and the resulting restrictions, it is necessary that we make some changes to Culture Night for 2021, and as a result we will have a programme that has an emphasis on live outdoor events and pop-up interactions. It will be a focused approach with fewer live events that will take place in a variety of outdoor spaces. All live events will need to be pre-booked and ticketed to avoid large crowds gathering and larger outdoor event holders will need to consult with their local Garda station to advise them of their plans and ensure their events take place safely.
We are confident that the Limerick Culture and Arts community will respond to this call out with enthusiasm and innovation and Culture Night 2021 will be one to remember.
All Covid-19 government safety guidelines and legislation MUST be adhered to. Visitor numbers and social distancing must be implemented and managed by staff. A detailed risk assessment and Covid Response Plan must be provided. We will not be considering indoor live events at this point. Restrictions can change, sometimes suddenly, so we ask that you continue to monitor the situation and update your plans accordingly.
One of the key aspects of Culture Night is that events are free of charge to ensure that activities and venues are accessible to all members of the public. For 2021 we request that live events are pre-booked and ticketed to control numbers and ensure government guidelines are adhered to.
Applications that do not state your plans to ensure compliance with these measures will not be considered.
Please note that while current guidelines set a limit of up to 200 people for outdoor events, we envisage that event capacity may be smaller when social distancing and space available is taken into account.
It is the responsibility of the event organisers to ensure compliance with these regulations.
If you would like to get involved in creating a Culture Night Hub by organising or hosting a Culture Night event, Limerick Arts Office will be there to support your involvement in this national initiative.
We will do this by listing and promoting your event on the National Culture Night website and on Limerick.ie. We have been awarded some funding for the support of the delivery of events and you may be eligible. By submitting your event information early and completing our Expression of Interest form we will be able to take your proposal into consideration. We may be offering participants free Culture Night merchandise; badges, t-shirts, to use and distribute on the night at the events organised.
The deadline for receipt of applications is 4pm, Monday 19 July, 2021.
