2020 Pride of Place Competition

Limerick City and County Council invites expressions of interest from local community groups who wish to seek nomination to the 2020 IPB Pride of Place Competition in association with Co-operation Ireland.

  • Pride of Place 2020

This annual all-island competition is run in conjunction with local authorities and aims to recognise and celebrate the efforts and endeavours of communities throughout Ireland, to make their place the best place to live. Past entrants have included groups involved in a wide variety of activities across the social spectrum. The common thread is the impact and difference made in people’s lives.

Nominated groups will hope to follow in the impressive track record of Limerick’s success in this competition. Limerick’s previous competition winners; 2019 runners up, Abbeyfeale Community Council in the 2500-5000 population category, 2018 first place award was given to The Children’s Grief Centre under the Communities Reaching Out Initiative, along with runners up Limerick Civic Trust in the Creative Place Initiative and Kilmeedy in the 0-300 population category.

Competition Process 2020

For this year only, due to Covid-19 crisis, the competition’s format will differ from previous years;

  • Groups interested in being considered for nomination are asked to complete the required Expressions of Interest form and return by Wednesday 17th June 2020.
  • The expressions of interest will be assessed, per category, based on the Co-operation Ireland criteria available on request from this office.
  • Applicants will be informed before end of June as to whether they have been selected to compete at all-island level.
  • If nominated the groups will be required to make a detailed submission by Wednesday 15th July 2020.
  • Applicants will be judged on their detailed submission.
  • In addition, a call (e.g. teleconference/ zoom) will be arranged between the group and judges to provide the group with opportunity to elaborate on their submission and also facilitate judges to seek clarification.
