People, Place and Policy, Growing Tourism to 2025 is the Government’s national tourism policy and it sets out ambitious goals for tourism in Ireland.
The policy commits to "an enhanced role for Local Authorities and recognition of the contribution of communities to tourism”.
The Tourism Department of Limerick City and County Council has therefore been working on developing a Tourism Development Strategy for Limerick.
Aims of Tourism Development Strategy
- Increase number of domestic and overseas visitors (and revenue) to Limerick
- Develop tourist experiences in the City and County
- Maximise Limerick’s position on the Wild Atlantic Way Region (Limerick City is a gateway to the Wild Atlantic Way)
- Continue to work with Local Development Companies, trade partners and key stakeholders and develop these relationships in order to enhance tourism experiences and offering in Limerick
