Following enactment of Statutory Instrument 210 or 2021 (Planning And Development (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2021), The following appliances, apparatus and structures are hereby prescribed as requiring a licence under section 254 of the Act of 2000: Awnings, coverings, canopies, parasols, shades, windbreakers, heaters or other similar structure for the purpose of facilitating outdoor dining.
The Limerick City and County Council tables and chairs licence is now amended to include application for a licence for awnings, coverings, canopies, parasols, shades, windbreakers, heaters or other similar structure for the purpose of facilitating outdoor dining.

Please note: A fee of €630 per annum is applicable where overhead covering/ canopies/ awnings etc. are also used as an advertising structure. These fees have been waived for 2021. The fees may be reintroduced from 2022 onwards.
Please note: The use of overhead canopies and/ or screens that are fixed to the ground are NOT authorised under this licence. Planning permission must be sought separately for any such canopies/ screens.
